by me~ because i can see that you all are freakin out a bit over high school, which is normal, its a very difficult transition. but lets get started, shall we?
Introduction:
When you first arrive to high school, you're gonna get lost. a lot. so when you first get there i suggest picking up a map from the guidence office. you may also refer to the various maps posted around the school. they put a bunch of the normal-computer-paper-sized-sheets-of-maps everywhere so that people could know where theyre going.
this is the bell schedule. every class is 44 minutes long, with a 4 minute span in between classes so that you can traverse your way to your next class.
Bell Schedule: [link] (this bell schedual is for both panas and lakeland, same schedule.)
there is also various amounts of clubs, like stage crew, FBLA (whoch is a real BORE), drama club ect.
now i will get to talking abot each subject individually, it will make it easier.
Math:
oh boy, here comes the math.
it is separate on whether you have honors or regular.
Integrated Algebra (regular course):
for a teacher, in lakeland, you will either have Miss Cook or Mrs. Riley. ( i dont know about panas, sorry

) i had mrs riley. if you talk while shes doing something 'important' or stare out the window while shes talking, talk to friends duiring class loudly, explain something to your friend who is having trouble or be the person that is having trouble that a friend of yours has to explain something to, SHE WILL SCREAM AT YOU. END OF STORY. SHE IS A BITCH. i really hope none of you have her. she also gives a lot of homework sometimes, but she swears up and down that she never gives homework on the weekend. (which is mostly true, she only did it like twice this year.) as for miss cook idk i didnt have her, bt if you dont talk in mrs reilleys class she wont scream at you and might actually like you. idk. but if she catches you whispering to your friends after she already gave you a couple of warnings, she will move you. so be warned. but overall, the class is pretty easy, except for a few things that you can swear sideways she didnt teach you, which she most likely didnt. but if you ask, shell explain it.
Geometry Honors:
this class is hard as fuck. i didnt take it, but i know a lot about geometry, and let me tell you, its bullshit. you have to do these things called PROOFS where you have to PROVE a shape.
you literally have to prove that a TRIANGLE is a TRIANGLE. it will say something like "Given: triangle ABC. line AB is approximatly equal to line AC. prove triangle ABC"
i dont know how, i dont want to know how, dont care, get awa toy from me geometry. no.i have to take it when i get back. darn.
Science:
In the 9th grade, everyone takes Biology. even if you are in honors you take bio. this is also broken down into honors/regular.
Biology R (regents[regular]):
in lakeland you will probably have Mr Rictor. i heard hes a good teacher, and... there's not much i can say about biology.
except that all the answers are literally cellular respiration, photosythesis, natural selection, and DNA shit. that is all you will basically learn throughout the year.
if you are in this class in 9th grade, you will take Earth science and the earth science regents in your following year, 10th.
Biology Honors:
in lakeland you will get Dr. McCullough. i dont know how to spell his name and i never will, everyone just calls him Doc.
hes a p good teacher, but kinda sleepy, ya know.
this class is (to me) p easy, its almost exactly like BioR. the only diff between this class and the Regents class is that the kids in this class already took the Earth Science Regents the year prior. its basically just to separate the two groups of kids.
The people that are in this class go into Chemestry Honors the year following, and will take the Chem. regents at the end of the year.
English:
Also separated into Honors/regular classes.
English R (regents[regular]):
you will either have mr bausert (i did) or ms catrell. idk how to spell names.
in this class you will read To Kill A Mockingbird, Romeo and Juliet, and a bunch of short stories.
there is this thing, in both classes, called an IRP assighnment. Indipendant Reading Project. you will have to pick your own book, read it and do a project in their guidelines that is due on a certain date. the projects are pretty laid back, i did them all in one or two nights.
this class literally has only like 6 writing assighnments that are IN CLASS and only like 2 ARE ACTUALLY ESSAYS
if you can read homestuck and understand that, you will fly in this course (if you try)
because this stuff is literally 7th grade work
the stuf you did in 8th grade was to ready the honors kids for their class, meanwhile the others.. they get to sit back and not sell their soul to the devil.
English Honors:
i heard this class is hard. all my friends except for like three took english honors. you have vocab test like every other day, and your IRP assighnment is to write this huge essay, find your own vocab, and sacraficing your soul to the devil in order to get it done and not fail (jk)
but no seriously if you have serious anxity issues, i wish you all the luck in the world because this is a hardass nearly college level course.you have to write essays like all the fucking time and the teacher has favoriteism and asdhfjghy its just a hard course from what ive learned.
History:
if u post a hetalia joke bcz of this section i swear to fuckin god i will drive to ur house on a unicycle, replace all your shoes with CROCS and UGGS and flush a whole pack of pads down your toilet i fuckin swear to whatever lays up in those stars whether it be katy parry singing teenage dream or morgan freeman i swear i will
Global:
it is global history. you will get up to the columbian excange this year, think, idk, i didnt have this class, but because of WHAP i wish i did,,, because this stuff is easy compared to WHAP,, but you still gotta be on your ball. keep in mind the mongols are the exception. and if u need help w/ history look up Crash Course History by the Vlog brothers on youtube, made by John Green (YES THAT JOHN GREEN) while his brother, Hank Green, does science. yes, the same Hank Green that was in the Youtbers react to Dont Hug Me Im Scared. that video is fucking outrageous.
Pre- Advanced Placement World History (AKA, WHAP):
do i have to explain this class
do i have to???
because of this class i had to sell my soul to the devil to keep my 90 and above average this is the hardest fucking class i have ever taken in the history of hard classes.
if you got into this class SOLELY BECAUSE youve seen hetalia
THAT WILL NOT HELP YOU.... EVEN IF IT IS WORLD HISTORY.... BECAUSE OH MY GOD.
the homework will have you up until 11:30 at night when there is homework, the essays are brutal, AP style questions dont even make any fucking sence WHATSOEVER, and you get treated like a collage student in the class. as i am currently writing this journal entry, i am on summer vacation. my last final was at 7:45am, and it was my WHAP final for the year. it consisted of 40 AP style multiple choice (where one os the questions was that you had to know the name of Ghenglis Khan, the founder of the mongol empire, you had to name his great-grandson or something i dont fucking know man thsese questions are scary specific)
and a DBQ essay, where you had to fully analyze 8 documents and put in an additional document. in one hour and 30 minutes. only. whereas for the BIO regents you get fucking 3 hours when no one even needs three hours
this class made my brain hurt. i wrote like 2-3x the amount of essays here than in my english class. this class is **POSSIBLY** harder than english honors.
and if that isnt fucking enough, we have to take this thing we call the AP next year. we have to slave through a whole nother year of world history AP style to get to the final end of the year test in may... the AP. 70 mult. choice, three essays, all in three hours.
i am done talking about this class omg i am so doNE COMPLEATLY FINISHED
Foreign Language:
i will NOT be breaking it down into anything , because i took italian i do not know what happned in spanish nor anything in panas so
this is an outline of what you will learn throught the year
- possesive adjectives (my, her, their, our)
- reflective verbs (doing something to oneself)
- past tence
and that is all i remember that is important that is new that you really really have to get or else u will fail ur class
Art/Music classes:
Studio in Art:
for all of you that are taking it
it is so fucking boring the first half of it but please please please please do not switch out because it gets better by the end you work with clay and you get to pick art classes ranging from Wearable art to watercolour to painting to ceramics to photography to digital art it gets better u fuckin swear
Orchestra/Band:
i have nthing whatsoever besides that you get to pick when you go to lessons accasionaly and you have to attend a certain amount
idk man i took art all my life and then the other times i took (bleh) general music
~*~*~*GOOD NEWS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NO MORE GENERAL MUSIC I SWEAR IT WAS THE WORST CLASS EVER
anyways..
Gym/ P.E.:
here, you get to pick what activities you are forced to do. they range from ultimate frisbee, weight room, track, tennis, ect.
you get graded 5 points towards your average. if you miss a gym class, you have to make one up afterschool at gym makeups. you get points for the following things:
- showing up
- being dressed properly
- finishing your lap in the amount of time you have to
- participating in your sport
- something else that i dont remember
1 point per bullet.
for the mile, you are graded out of 10 points. you may not be excused if you ave asthma. males have to complete it in under 7 minutes. females under 8. every minute you go over your specific time, you get deducted one point.
since i have asthma, i taste blood after i am done, have asthma attacks afterword, i dont have an inhaler, i dont get excused, other people get nauseous and collapse, others do throw up. but we still have to do it. why? because gym fucking sucks. i dont want to go over this anymore because it makes me engraged to even think about it.
during gym makeups you have to walk around the track four times, which is a mile. you have half an hour and you use that whole half hour.
i would suggest doing gym makeups because its easier than actually killing yourself on the mile, and gym is an easy 100 that can bring up your average so that your parents wont get angry and scream at you because you failed the quarter.
Lunch:
it is a bloodbath the amount of fights started during lunch i cant even
next year, i am not taking lunch (im not taking lunch so i can take psychology and health, sorry guys
)
Lunch is not mandatory. when its nice you can sit outside. if you want, you can go to the library during lunch. 44 minutes for lunch, and there is only one cafeteria. so you wont be split up if youre in the same period lunch with your friends.
however, lunch periods are 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are all mixed together during lunch periods. so you might not be with your friends let alone not being with people in your grade. wich is sometimes good, because its less likely that you will run into any lunch bullies.
Lockers and buses:
you might not even use your locker throughout the year. maybe to store a coat, if anything.
there is also no dress code, you can wear shorts that are an inch too short finally!!!!!! and not get screamed at !!!!
srsly u might not even need a fucking locker, because you can carry your backpack with you throughout the day.
there is a 2:00pm normal bus, a 3:00pm activity bus for which you need a bus pass for, and a 5:00pm sport bus. there is also, if i beleive, a track bus later in the year at 2:10pm that shuttles kids from Panas to Lakeland, so you guys can stay after and hang out at panas i guess? since you guys are so worried about going to separate schools.
FINAL WORDS:
guys, ive noticed you guys have been freaking out a lot this lately, and a bunch of other things ive seen through your guys journals. you guys are so worried about getting torn apart, but worrying about it is actually causing you guys to be torn apart! from what i've seen... and i dont really wanna get into this because it seems messy, you guys are having deep anxiety about this, when really, its not as bad as it seems. trust me, i know its a big transition, i KNOW because i literally just got out of being a freshman. its easy when you first start out, they dont immediately slam you into everything, they ease you into it.
so please please please dont freak out on the first day of school, i know i did, and trust me, you'll get used to the regular swing of things in 2 - 4 weeks.
and trust me. the year basically FLIES by.
